"let's go to the movies" performing april 23-26

“Let’s Go to the Movies” follows roommates on a hilarious journey to decide what movie to watch, only to be swept through decades of film, genres, and iconic musical moments along the way. From classic movie tunes and action-packed medleys to throwback hits from the ’80s and ’90s, the show is packed with singing, dancing, and laugh-out-loud moments. Highlighting childhood favorites, romantic ballads, comedy numbers and so much more, there is truly something for everyone. Performers of all talents—singers, dancers, actors, comedians, and those with unique skills—are encouraged to audition for this fun, fast-paced celebration of movies and musical theatre.

at Ohio Dominican University’s Peace Hall

VOCALISTS: Are you a soloist looking to belt your favorite Broadway number? A singer wanting to optimize harmony in ensemble numbers? Or someone interested in joining the chorus? There’s a place for everyone!

DANCERS: Are you an expert dancer who always dreamt of stepping onto a Broadway stage or are you looking to pick up those dusty dancing shoes again? We need featured dancers as well as ‘movers’ excited to bring life to the stage!

ACTORS: Do you enjoy being the life of the party? Are you a budding (or experienced) comedian? You’re needed to introduce, transition, close and bring laughter to the production.

If you enjoy singing, dancing, and/or acting, then we’re the second home for you! There’s something magical and familial about being a part of our cast and crew. With more than eight decades of performing, many members have participated for decades and even generations.

Vocalists will participate in a combined chorus, and either the bass or treble chorus in the annual spring and holiday shows. Solos and ensembles are also integrated into these shows and Summer Stages based on an audition process.

  1. Solos + Ensembles: If you are interested in singing a solo or in a small ensemble, sign up for a 10 minute solo/ensemble/acting audition slot
  2. Chorus: If you are interested in singing only in the chorus, sign up for the group chorus audition slot at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th
  3. Prepare 32 bars of music, any Broadway song of your choice
  4. Bring sheet music with you to the audition or an audio track, piano accompanist and Bluetooth speaker provided
  5. Arrive at auditions at Ohio Dominican University’s Peace Hall (2600 Airport Dr, Columbus, OH) and sing for the Artistic Team (judges), if you are interested in ensemble pieces with movement you may be asked to do a few movement steps with guidance
  6. Complete your membership form prior to auditions. Link below.

Dancers perform a variety of styles of dance in the show from musical theatre jazz to technical jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, kickline, ballroom and occasionally clogging.

  1. Sign up for the dance audition on Sunday, January 19th at 5:00 p.m.
  2. Arrive at auditions wearing comfortable clothing / dance attire and appropriate shoes at Ohio Dominican University’s Peace Hall (2600 Airport Dr, Columbus, OH) and learn dance combos taught my choreographers and perform for the Artistic Team (judges)
  3. Styles of dance: jazz, lyrical (optional), hip-hop (optional), tap (optional), kickline (optional)
  4. Complete your membership form prior to auditions. Link below.

ACT with us

Shows have skits and acting roles to showcase your talents. Comedians welcomed and encouraged!

  1. Sign up for one of the 10 minute “solo/ensemble/acting” audition slots on Saturday, January 18th or Sunday, January 19th
  2. Arrive at auditions at Ohio Dominican University’s Peace Hall (2600 Airport Dr, Columbus, OH) prepared to read from the script for the Artistic Team (judges)

YOUTH are invited

Youth ages 6-17 are invited to audition to participate in a movement/vocal number and acting opportunities. All youth will be cast. 

Youth will simply need to complete the Membership Form (link below) to sign up to participate in the spring production.
